Watch the Fold Animation
Tap any step to replay its animation in full. The folds are drawn to scale — use the on-screen crease lines as a guide, not just the finished shape.
🏠
Pick the Right Plane for the Space
Indoors with low ceilings? Try the Dart or Stealth for flat, fast flights. Wide-open outdoor space? The Condor or Glider will really shine.
⏱️
Use the Built-in Flight Timer
In Family Game mode, tap the timer button the moment the plane leaves your hand and again when it lands. PaperFlyer records the time automatically for "Time in Air" scoring.
🛠️
Tune a Diving Plane
If your plane nose-dives, gently bend the rear trailing edges upward a few millimetres (this is called an elevator up-trim). The Tuning Tips section for each design walks you through this.
🏆
Set Up a Family Tournament
In Family Game, add all players first, then choose your scoring method before picking planes. Mix scoring types across rounds — metres in round 1, time in air in round 2 — for variety.

Works Anywhere, Offline
PaperFlyer doesn't need Wi-Fi or mobile data. The full folding library, tuning tips, and Family Game all work in airplane mode — perfect for parks, camping, and long trips.
✂️
Scissors for Two Designs
The Looper and Canard require a small cut partway through folding — the app flags this step clearly. Keep scissors handy before you start those two designs.
📄
Paper Choice Matters
Standard 80 g/m² copy paper works great for most designs. Heavier paper (90–100 g/m²) suits the Dart and Hammer for extra stiffness. Each design's Tuning Tips note the recommended weight.
How do the animated folding steps work?
Each step shows the fold animated in real time, drawn to the actual scale of an A4 / US Letter sheet. Tap the step card to replay the animation. You can move forward and back through steps at your own pace — the app never rushes you.
How many plane designs are included?
PaperFlyer includes 10 classic designs: The Dart, Glider, Hammer, Hoop, Looper, Condor, Stealth, Moth, Canard, and Boomerang. Each is rated 1–5 stars across four flight characteristics: Distance, Air Time, Stability, and Speed.
How does the Family Game scoring work?
Add 2–8 players, choose 1–5 rounds, then select your scoring method: Feet (measured distance), Meters (measured distance in metric), Time in Air (using the built-in flight timer), or a combination of metrics. After each throw, enter the result — PaperFlyer calculates live standings and crowns the winner at the end. The last 5 completed games are saved automatically.
Do I need scissors?
Most designs need only paper and your hands. Two designs — the Looper and the Canard — require a single straight cut at one step in the folding sequence. The app marks that step clearly so you know in advance.
Is my data private?
Yes. PaperFlyer stores game scores and player names locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. The app has no internet connection, no analytics, no advertising, and no account system. See the full
Privacy Policy for details.
What iOS version is required?
PaperFlyer requires iOS 16.0 or later, on any iPhone or iPad. No minimum screen size — it works great on iPhone SE through iPad Pro.
Can I use any paper size?
All designs are drawn to A4 / US Letter proportions (the standard 8.5×11 or A4 sheet). Most designs will also work with A5 for smaller planes. The folding diagrams are to scale for a full sheet, so start with standard copy paper for the best results.
My plane keeps rolling to one side — what do I do?
Rolling is usually caused by uneven wings. Lay the plane flat on a table and check that both wings are the same height and angle. Gently bend the lower wing up (or the higher wing down) until they match. The Tuning Tips section for each design covers rolling, diving, and stalling fixes in detail.
How do I delete game history?
You can delete individual saved games from the Game History list by swiping left on any entry. Deleting the app from your device removes all data permanently.
Is PaperFlyer free?
Yes — PaperFlyer is free to download with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no ads. All 10 designs, the Family Game, and all tuning tips are included at no cost.
